Come be a tourist in my neighborhood

I moved to Prospect Heights, Brooklyn two years ago. It’s wide sidewalks, colorful brownstones and cute restaurants are now my home. But when I moved to New York City six years ago, the only thing I knew about Brooklyn is that Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl lived there. During my first year in the city, I didn’t leave Manhattan unless I was going to an airport. The dream for me and many transplants was Manhattan. The busy streets, skyscrapers, and yellow cabs drew us here.

And I enjoyed those busy streets, skyscrapers and yellow cabs. In many ways, I still do. But by my fourth year, I was ready for a calmer neighborhood. Luckily, Prospect Heights welcomed me with open arms. It lets me wander around the shady streets, sit in the luxurious, woody park, and slow the fuck down. Here, I’ve become a regular at a coffee shop, have a go to order at my bagel place, and know the faces at my gym.
