No time for niceties this week. Let’s get right into my worthy distractions.

I watched ‘The Baldwins’ because someone had to

As with any good pop culture connoisseur, I consume all of TV. This means the good, the bad, and of course, the ugly. Over the weekend, I started watching the ugliest of the ugly - The Baldwins - the TLC reality show staring Alec and Hilaria Baldwin. It premiered a few weeks ago but only popped up into my life last week when Lael texted me about it. How could it have slipped my grasp?

Alas, as I was sleepy on Saturday after a big night out, I chugged away on my homework. The Baldwins starts days before Alec was set to appear in court for his involuntary manslaughter trial from the accidental shooting on the Rust set. Alec was charged with involuntary manslaughter after he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while on set. A truly devastating event for all involved. Now, zooming out and back to ‘The Baldwins,’ I’m no lawyer, but shouldn’t it be illegal for a defendant to star in a reality television program just as his trial begins? Isn’t there some conflict of interest there?
